Keys to Entrepreneurial Success
I ran across a great article recently … great in all respects except it’s title. The title is actually a question that was posed on Quora, the Q&A website. The question was “What is the most effective yet efficient way to get rich?” The answer was, in my humble opinion, outstanding. I just wish the question had been “What is the most effective yet efficient was to be succcessful at whatever is important to you?” I think the answer would have been basically the same, and wouldn’t have sounded quite so shallow or limited in scope.
Highlights of the advice given were:
- Networking is an extremely valuable skill, especially in today’s “find anything, anywhere” world. Having personal relationships with the people you work, play and live with are extremely important.
- People skills are essential if you’re going to achieve item #1 above (networking). See Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”
- Learn, learn, learn. The days of attending 12 years of school, 4 years of college and then never opening a book are gone, at least if you want to make your mark in the world. Today’s successful person is continually learning, and reading books is the first place to start. I know, everything is on the web, but the quality of material in a best selling book is generally far superior to a random blog post or editorial.
- Work hard. Work ethic is the one thing that anyone can excel at if they choose to, and it’s such a huge differentiator. Rarely do people get fired from jobs when they bring a great attitude and a great work ethic. Those people generally end up running the business.
I’ll let you read the rest of the article for yourself, it’s well worth the time. Enjoy!
